DOH reports 169 new COVID-19 cases, 9 on Big Island, and 2 deaths

The state Department of Health reported fewer than 200 new COVID-19 cases for the first time in several days, with 169 new cases, but also report two new deaths.

There are now 6,769 cases reported statewide. Of those cases, nine are in Hawaii County, bringing the total number of Big Island cases since the pandemic began to 209.

Hawaii County Civil Defense said earlier today the total number of active cases on the Big Island, now isolated and monitored by the state Department of Health is 56, with four individuals are hospitalized.

Today’s new COVID-19 cases also include 150 on Oahu and 10 in Maui County.

The coronavirus-related death toll statewide now stands at 49. No additional information was immediately released on the deaths.

Statewide, 399 cases have required hospitalization and 2,172 have been released from isolation as “recovered.”
