DOH reports 236 new COVID-19 cases statewide and 2 more deaths

The state Department of Health reported 236 new COVID-19 cases today, and the 44th and 45th coronavirus-related deaths.

There are now 5,609 statewide cases reported since the pandemic began.

Today’s new cases include 231 on Oahu, five on Hawaii Island and one on Maui, according to DOH.

No immediate information on the deaths were provided.

One Maui case was re-categorized to Oahu and one Oahu case was removed from the counts due to updated information, according to DOH.

The overall statewide case total includes 5,340 on Oahu, 263 in Maui County, 159 in Hawaii County, and 54 in Kauai County, according to health officials.

The total also includes 23 Hawaii residents diagnosed outside of the state.

According to DOH, 317 cases have required hospitalization.

As of today, 2,031 patients now classified as “released from isolation.”
