DOH reports 134 new COVID-19 cases statewide, 41st death

The state Department of Health reported 134 new COVID-19 cases today, and the 41st coronavirus-related death.

The death is on Oahu, but no further information was given.

There are now 5,349 statewide cases reported since the pandemic began.

Today’s new cases include 124 on Oahu, three on Hawaii Island and seven on Maui, according to DOH.

Hawaii County Civil Defense said this morning that there are 20 active Big Island cases, one requiring hospitalization.

The overall statewide case total includes 4,878 on Oahu, 242 in Maui County, 152 in Hawaii County, and 54 in Kauai County, according to health officials.

The total also includes 23 Hawaii residents diagnosed outside of the state.

The coronavirus-related death toll remains 40, according to DOH.

DOH said of the cases reported statewide, so far, 4,965, or 93%, are residents.

According to DOH, 300 cases, about 6% of the cases have required hospitalization.

As of today, 1,921 patients now classified as “released from isolation.”
