Frank Adam De Luz III, 86, of Hilo died July 26 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Paauilo, he was a real estate investor, rancher, former Hawaii County Council member and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hawaii Island Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, Young Men’s Institute and Court Mauna Kea #8854 of the Ancient Order of Foresters. Private services held. No koden (monetary gifts.) Survived by companion, Deborah Patnaude of Hilo; daughters, Brenda De Luz-Campbell of Paauilo and Carolyn Asencion of Hilo; sister, Gladys (Bruce) Mello of Kailua, Oahu; brothers-in-law, Joseph (Evelyn) Arbles and Patrick (Chrystine) Arbles of Hilo; five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews. Miyoko Murakami Hoshide, 100, of Hilo died June 29 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was a retired secretary for the former W.A. Helen “Aji” Moana Wood, 77, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 1 at home. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired computer programmer and trainer and former member and paddler for Kai Opua Canoe Club.
