Ban booze?
It troubles me that bars and the serving of alcohol in public places is allowed.
Even Dr. Anthony Fauci said he is against this issue.
Perhaps even the selling of all alcohol should be stopped temporarily until the (virus) numbers come down. This might give people an incentive to do the right thing.
Just a thought. Be safe.

No common sense
Sad. Mass hysteria has overcome common sense (“Council exercises caution in regard to 5G development,” Tribune-Herald, July 23).
The Asian countries have led the way in connectivity and have shown the 5G technology is safe.
I served aboard a naval vessel four years that emitted massive amounts of energy. I have played cards next to massive amounts of microwaves as an ET (electronic technician) 35 years ago, and I am “no worse for wear.”
What do you think 5G wireless modems in your house emit?
Common sense has gone out the window.

Trump a bozo
On top of all the other lies and misrepresentations and distortions emanating from the White House — and they are continuous — we are inundated with lies from the Trump machine about why our schools should reopen on the arbitrary Aug. 4 date.
I care about our economy, but I care more about our children, our future. Almost 150,000 (!!!) Americans have died in the past four months because of Trump’s incompetence and malevolence, and this bozo now wants to throw our children into his dystopic view of reality?!
But, let’s have professional sports and open up bars and restaurants and ignore — nay, criticize and ignore — medical and scientific findings and recommendations.
Cui bono? Who is benefiting from this insanity?
The world witnessed the murder of George Floyd and continues to witness this administration’s attempts to repress our citizens’ outrage at its policies and practices.
Our economy is in chaos, and our social structure is tottering. Who is benefiting from this situation? Not America. Our system of governance is being assaulted, and part of our country seems to think this is a good thing.
Vote in November, and keep contacting our elected officials with your outrage.

Why closed?
Can someone explain why the Hilo High track is still closed?
Many kupuna and others used this great track regularly for early morning exercise. It’s much safer than walking on the street or even the sidewalk.
State and county parks are open. Why not the track? Makes no sense!
