A Kamehameha Schools representative said Thursday that the dispute with the operators of the Volcano Golf and Country Club could be resolved soon.
The Hawaiian International Sporting Club, which leased the Volcano Golf and Country Club property from Kamehameha Schools in 1999, allegedly threatened to destroy the golf course entirely rather than surrender the property back to Kamehameha Schools at the end of the lease, leading to a potential court case.
However, Kamehameha Schools last week withdrew its request for an injunction against HISC, and on Thursday stated that the two parties are in discussions out of court to resolve the matter.
In full, the statement read: “Kamehameha Schools (“KS”) and Hawaiian International Sporting Club Inc. have engaged in productive discussions to settle this matter. KS is hopeful that the matter will be resolved soon. KS’s goal remains working toward a successful transition to a future use.”
