The Lyman Museum in downtown Hilo will reopen to the community and other visitors on Monday, July 6.

For everyone’s health and safety, the museum is making certain temporary changes to its admission schedule and operational procedures.

For at least through Labor Day, the museum will be open to the public 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday only. It will not open on Saturdays during this period.

Visitors will purchase timed admission tickets by advance reservations, either online through the museum’s website at lymanmuseum.org or by calling 935-5021.

This is being done to monitor the number of people who can safely be admitted to the museum at one time in order to observe physical distancing requirements. Walk-in visitors without reservations will be accommodated as space permits.

The final timed admission session on Mondays, from 3:15-4:30 p.m., is reserved to welcome kupuna and other potentially high-risk visitors.

While in the museum and Mission House, face masks must be worn and physical distancing requirements observed in order to respect the safety of oneself and others.

Details of all current admission schedules, procedures and rates are available on the museum’s website, social media outlets and by phone.

The museum’s staff is excited to be able to once again welcome visitors, and thanks the community for its cooperation and understanding as the museum moves through this new and challenging period.
