Marlena Irene Castro Dixon, 41, of Hilo died May 15 at home. Born in Hilo, she was an epidemiological specialist for the state Department of Health, former Big Island liaison for U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz, member of Community of Christ Church and graduate of Hilo High School class of 1996, who earned a B.S. in psychology and an M.S. in public education at University of New Mexico. Survived by husband, Ryan Dixon of Hilo; son, Aiden Makana Dixon of Hilo; sister, Genia (John) Castro Fick of Redlands, Calif.; brother, Troy Castro of Hilo; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Sally Ligaya Louis, 73, of Pahala died May 15 in Honolulu. Born in Pahala, she was a licensed costometologist with an A.A. in liberal arts, member of Pahala Senior Center, who organized hula and ukulele sessions, and lead coordinator of Ka‘u High School Alumni.
