Mary Kuulei Evangelista, 89, of Pahala died April 2 in Hilo. Born in Pahala, she was a retired supervisor for Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council and member of the Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Private graveside service for family only 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 9, at Pahala Catholic Cemetery. Memorial service at a later date. Survived by sons, Roderick A. Lena “Aunty Hobby” Kamilipua Hooper, 76, of Kainaliu died April 17 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honalo, she was a retired housekeeper for Royal Kona Resort.
