James Allen Hansel, 78, of Kailua-Kona died April 4 at home. Born in Wellington, Kan., he was the original owner of Quinn’s Almost by the Sea restaurant and U.S. Navy veteran. No services planned at this time. Survived by daughter, Christina Hansel of Kailua-Kona; son, Marcus (Desiree) Hansel of Henderson, Nev.; brothers, Thomas (Deborah Montrond) Hansel of Kealia; sister, Shelly Hansel of Wellington, Kan.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Shannon Sakae Horiuchi, 65, of Hilo died April 13. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired county parks caretaker. Private services held. Suzanne Kita, 76, of Hilo died April 4 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Fort Benning, Ga., she was a children’s book author, English professor at Windward and Hawaii community colleges and member of Center for Spiritual Living. Private services at a later date. Glenn Yoshitake Kuwaye, 73, of Hilo died April 8 in Hilo. Born in Honokaa, he was a retired president of Allied Aggregates Corp., Hilo High alum, golfer and car enthusiast. Memorial services pending.
