Benjamin Franklin Boyer, 74, of Keaau died Feb. 15 at home. Born in Colorado, he was a logger in Washington state, U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran and member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and National Rifle Association. Graveside services 8 a.m. Friday (March 6) at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Survived by wife, Debra Boyer of Keaau; son, Troy Boyer of Washington; daughter, Julie Boyer of Washington; six grandchildren and a great grandchild; cousins. Fred Guillermo Camero Sr., of Hawaii Island, formerly of Lanai City, Lanai, died Feb. 21 at ‘Ano‘ano care home in Kapaau. Born in Solsona, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a retired pineapple field worker for Dole, entertainer, and was honored with wife, Rosita as “Parents of the Year” by the State Philippine Cultural Foundation. Private visitation 3-4 p.m. Sunday (March 8) at Lanai ILWU Hall. Public visitation 4-6 p.m. Celebration of life 6 p.m. Memorial Mass 8:30 a.m. Monday (March 9) at Lanai Sacred Hearts Church. Survived by his wife, Rosita Magaoay Camero; children, Philip Vance Camero, Joan Camero Parris, Carmela Magaoay Camero, Fred Guillermo Camero Jr., Amalia ArcieRose Camero Kettering, and Cameron Patrick Camero; 15 grandchildren. Jerry Kaleonani Sumiyoshi Kamakea, 62, of Pahoa died Feb. 13 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hilo, he was a member of New Hope Puna. Kenneth Keala Kaniho, 73, of Laupahoehoe died Jan. 31 at home. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired harvesting superintendent for the former Hamakua Sugar. Co., owner/manager of Triple K Ranch in Waimea, construction worker, Hawaii Army National Guard veteran and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Honomu Branch. Sylvester “Sonny” Haiha Paalua Jr., 89, of Kawaihae died Feb. 5 at home. Born in Puuanahulu, he was a retired Pohakuloa Training Area heavy equipment operator, U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division and National Guard veteran, and member of American Legion, Kohala National Guard Alumni, Kohala Senior Citizens, Na Kupuna O Kohala, Moku O Keawe Outrigger Canoe Racing Association and Na Kalai Wa‘a Makalii Kupuna. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Saturday (March 7) at Kalahikiola Congregational Church in Kapaau. Memorial service at 10 a.m. Luncheon to follow. Casual attire.
