Police have released a man they arrested Wednesday on suspicion of killing his wife.

According to a written statement today, an autopsy was conducted on a woman’s body found on the southern shoreline of Anaehoomalu Bay in South Kohala confirmed it was that of 41-year-old Smriti Saxena of Bellevue, Wash., who had been reported missing late the previous night by her husband.

The autopsy, however, didn’t reveal a conclusive cause of death and police said further testing is needed.

Saxena’s 43-year-old husband, Sonam Saxena of Bellevue, Wash., was released from police custody without being charged pending further investigation.

Police ask anyone who may have been in the area or near the south beach of Anaehoomalu Bay or may have seen Sonam or Smriti Saxena Tuesday evening tocall the police department’s non-emergency number at 935-3311 or Crime Stoppers at 961-8300.
