Roy Tamotsu Kawasaki, 75, of Kent, Wash., formerly of Hilo, died Nov. 16 in Seattle. Born in Honolulu; he was an employee of Container Corporation of America/Jefferson Smurfit and Weyerhaeuser Co. U.S. Army veteran, member of Evergreen and Puget Sound Golf Clubs and Hilo High School Class of 1962 alum. Celebration of life held in Kent. Interment at a later date Punchbowl National Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl) in Honolulu. Survived by wife, Karen Kawasaki of Kent; sons, Douglas Takeshi (Olivia Shone) Kawasaki of Mercer Island, Wash., and Russell Akira (Dr. Kristi Stanley) Kawasaki of Garden Grove, Calif.; brother, Karl Kawasaki of Pearl City, Oahu; sisters, Laraine (Randy) Sagon Kawasaki of Hilo and Marilyn Kawasaki of Seattle; two granddaughters; aunts and cousins.

Arthur Antone Lorenzo, 88, of Hilo died Dec. 9 at Hale Ho‘ola Hamakua in Honokaa. Born in Waiohinu, Hawaii; he was a rancher, U.S. Marine Corps veteran during the Korean War and member of Paniolo Preservation Society. Visitation 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Shirley Ann Naomi Mae, 65, of Hilo died Dec. 31 at home. She was a U.S. Mail carrier, worked for Big Three Industries, was a graduate of Hilo High School and earned an associates degree in secretarial science. Private service held Jan. 5. George Hideaki Matsuoka, 85, of Captain Cook died Dec. 30 at Maunalani Nursing and Rehab in Honolulu. Born in Kainaliu, he was a retired Hawaii County firefighter and U.S. Army veteran. Visitation 3-4 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 12) at Kona Hongwanji Mission in Kealakekua. Alfred Tavares III, 80, of Hilo died Jan, 1 at home. Born in Hawaii, he was a heavy equipment operator for Yamada and Sons and member of Hilo Trollers Club, Kaumana Kumiai, International Longshore and Warehouse Union and St. Joseph Church. Visitation 5:30- 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Ballard Family Mortuary. Service at 7 p.m. Visitation again 9-10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at St. Joseph Church. Akio “Ed” Edwin Yogi, 66, of Keaau died Dec. 19 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired maintenance factory repairman for the former Hilo Coast Processing Co. Private services held. The late Julio B. Resureccion died Nov. 28 at Tripler Army Medical Center. An incorrect date of death was submitted for an obituary published Wednesday.
