David Benjamin Cordeiro, a 37-year-old Mountain View man, pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court to possessing ammunition after having been previously convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence, Kenji Price, U.S. Attorney for Hawaii, said in a statement.

Sentencing is scheduled for April 22, 2020, before U.S. District Judge Leslie E. Kobayashi.

According to court documents and information presented in court, on Sept. 1, 2018, Cordeiro fired multiple rounds of ammunition into a stopped car with a woman in the driver’s seat.

Cordeiro had previously been convicted of domestic violence against an intimate partner. In light of his prior domestic violence conviction, federal law prohibited Cordeiro from possessing firearms or ammunition.
