The Walmart Community Grants Team and Hilo Walmart store awarded the Civil Air Patrol Lyman Field Composite Squadron a $5,000 grant in August.

The Lyman Field Composite Squadron is using the grant to improve its facility at Hilo International Airport. Hilo Walmart employees volunteered their time in September to jump-start improvements at the squadron facility. The Walmart volunteers worked with cadets and senior squadron members to paint meeting rooms, replace flooring and install energy efficient lights.

Materials were purchased using a portion of the grant. Air conditioner installation in meeting rooms is also planned.
