Let the fun of the holiday season begin at ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center on Friday, Nov. 29. As an alternative to the retail world’s “Black Friday,” ‘Imiloa is excited to offer Black Hole Friday specials on the day after Thanksgiving.

“Fly-outs” will be added to the daytime planetarium shows that will highlight black holes and ‘Imiloa’s Bank of Hawaii retail store will have lots of great holiday items on special sale.

Non-members can watch planetarium shows and enjoy daytime access to the exhibit hall and cyberCANOE interactive presentations for a special one-day $8 admission fee. Admission is free for ‘Imiloa members.

Live fly-out portions of the respective planetariums shows will be:

• Noon, “Skies Above Hawai‘i.”

• 1 p.m., “Maunakea Between Earth &Sky.”

• 2 p.m., “Awesome Light 2.”

And for just one day only, the 3 p.m. planetarium show will be “Black Holes: The Other Side of Infinity” narrated by Liam Neeson, and the show’s live portion will also feature a fly-out discussing black holes and recent discoveries.

Also, live discussions centered on black holes will take place in the cyberCANOE room at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
