Keaau seeks track coach

Keaau High School is accepting applications for a boys and girls track and field coach.

All interested applicants may apply at the school’s main office during regular business hours and must be able to pass a background check with the state to be eligible for employment.

Keiki fun run at Waiakea

A Healthy Keiki Fun Run will be held at 9 a.m. Dec. 14 at the Waiakea High track.

Permission forms are available at the high school and Sports Line, and the fee is $10.

Waiakea tryout dates set

Waiakea High School announced the following tryout dates:

• Junior varsity soccer: 3 p.m. Oct. 28 at Ken Yamase Memorial Stadium

• Paddling: 3 p.m. Nov. 4 at Hilo Bayfront, Kamehameha Canoe Club hale

• Girls soccer: 3 p.m. Nov. 4 at Yamase Stadium.

• Girls basketball: 3 p.m. Nov. 4 at school gym

• Boys and girls swimming and diving: 3 p.m. Nov. 11 at Kawamoto Pool

• Boys soccer: 3 p.m. Nov. 11 at Yamase Stadium

• Boys basketball: 3 p.m. Nov. 11 at school gym

• Wrestling: 4 p.m. Oct. 28 at school cafeteria

HI Intensity club tryouts

HI Intensity Volleyball Club will hold tryouts for girls interested in playing in the 18-and-under, 16U and 14U divisions.

Tryouts for 14U will only be held Sunday at Waiakea Uka Gym, with an 8:15 a.m. check-in.

Tryouts for 18U and 16U will be held Sunday at Waiakea Uka Gym, with a 4 p.m. check-in, and Oct. 30 at Piihonua Gym, with an 8 p.m. check-in.

All girls must have waivers signed by parents before tryouts, and registration is required.

RBI season is revving up

Nobu Yamauchi RBI is planning to start its winter league season from mid-November through December and games will be played on Sundays.

The organization is looking for girls ages 13-18, and all players will be eligible to make the RBI travel team for the West Regional team in July.

The cost is $100, which covers league fees, balls, umpires, visor and on shirt.
