The Big Reuse-It Garage Sale will be a new feature at the 2019 Waimea Fall Festival and Pumpkin Patch event from noon-4 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 12), at Minuke ‘Ole Park next to Kahilu Town Hall in Waimea. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of North Hawaii and Waimea Preservation Association, it’s a new take on an old, familiar method of recycling.

“We are all concerned about the environmental health of our island,” said Rotary President J. William Sanborn. “When we were brainstorming ideas for the Fall Festival, a garage sale popped up as an event that we thought would attract a crowd, be fun for everyone and keep a lot of items out of the landfill. It’s an old idea, reimagined. Lots of bargains, too.”

The garage sale event welcomes everyone, including those out for Ironman Day, to come and browse. Residents interested in displaying their reusables and crafts must complete the reservation form and submit it no later than Thursday (Oct. 10). Participants may reserve a grass area, either 12-foot by 24-foot or 24-foot by 24-foot, for the event.

A donation to Rotary and Waimea Preservation Association is also suggested. The reservation form and further details are available at www.RotaryClubOfNorthHawaii.org. For more information, call 938-9667.
