Police have charged a 50-year-old Pahoa man with property crimes stemming from a theft Monday at a Hilo candy shop.

According to police, Daniel Yadao Cayme reached into a mail slot and removed a welcome mat from the establishment. The action was caught on video surveillance from the business, and police were able to identify Cayme as the suspect.

On Tuesday, Cayme was arrested at a county park on an outstanding warrant for other offenses, and found the welcome mat.

Cayme was charged with burglary, theft, and habitual property crime. His bail was set at $20,000.
