Mikala presents a recital of piano, voice and percussion students at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at Church of the Holy Cross, 440 W. Lanikaula St. in Hilo.

There will be 29 students, ranging in age from 5 to adult, performing various solos and duets. Admission is free.

The music will feature an eclectic mix of composers including Henry Mancini, Mozart, Peggy Lee, Scott Joplin, Dimitri Kabalevsky, Jonathon Larson, Billy Joel, The Wiggles, Audiomachine, Lemonade Mouth, John Lennon and Paul McCartney, Yojiro Noda, Freddie Mercury, Richard Rogers and Lorenz Hart, and Claude Bolling.

Mikala will be close the recital with “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Suite for Jazz Flute and Piano, No. 3 Javanaise.” He will perform with Jean-Pierre Rampal on flute and bass flute, Marcel Sagiani on drums and Max Hediguer on bass.

Reina Dawn will emcee.

All are invited to join in a potluck following the recital.
