Joanna Lynn Stallard Makaula Makekau, aka Joanna Lynn Stallard-Peard, 62, of Pahoa, formerly of Kailua, Oahu, died April 1 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Anchorage, Alaska, she was a homemaker and student. Celebration of life 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Luther Makekau Point, between Opihikao and MacKenzie State Recreation Area in Puna. Ceremony at 1 p.m. Potluck to follow. Survived by daughter, Dionne Hoku‘ao Stallard Sesepasara; son, Joel Peard; mother, Rachel Melekahiwa Stallard; brother, Robert Stallard; sisters, Lori Ann Baker and Tina Marie Duvoison; a granddaughter; nieces and nephews.

Ted Tadashi Ura, 87, of Hilo died July 28 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Kurtistown, he was a retired counselor and former football coach at Hilo High School, U.S. Army Korean War veteran, charter member of Lehua Jaycees and member of Keaau Senior Golf Club.
