The non-profit Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center will host a free talk on Aug. 15 as part of their “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace” Brown Bag Lunch Series. This month’s speaker is Janet Dellaria on the topic “The Art of Forgiveness: A Path to Peace.”

Talks are from noon-1 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month at the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, located at 655 Kilauea Ave. in Hilo.

“Forgiveness is an integral part of life and a major contributor to inner peace and happiness. Think of the golden rule: do unto others as you want done unto you,” says Dellaria.

“Forgiveness is a part of the golden rule. It starts with kindness, and then leads to forgiveness, gratitude and deep listening.”

In this talk, learn insights into the what, why, and who of forgiveness and open up to awareness in dialogue.

Dellaria earned her doctorate in Leadership Studies from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. She has a B.A. in Mathematics and a MLS in Library Science. Her professional career centered around libraries in the university and private systems.

She is a world traveler and spends most of her time between Hilo and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Dellaria is a professional trained volunteer mediator at Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center.

Ku‘ikahi’s Brown Bag Lunch Series is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch.
