Margaret Mary “Sweetheart” Colon, 88, of Oregon, formerly of Kona, died July 12 in Oregon. Born in Honaunau, she was a housekeeping supervisor for the former Keauhou Beach Hotel. Celebration of life 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at Old Kona Airport Park, beach pavilion No. 2. Inurnment at Kona Memorial Park. Survived by children, Julia (Glenn) DePonte of Hilo, Janet (Susan) Colon of Honolulu, Thomas (Kim) Colon of Kentucky, Laura Colon of California, Debora (Joelynn) Colon of Oregon, Margaret (Rodney) Acia of Hilo and Spencer (Vicky) Colon of Kona; hanai daughter, Joelynn Obadencio of Oregon; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

George Kunitake, 88, of Kona died April 28 at Torrance Memorial Medical Center in Torrance, Calif. Born in Japan, he was a retired stockbroker for the former Bateman Eichler Hill Richards and U.S. Army veteran. Private celebration of life. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by wife, Grace; daughter, Ann; sister, Emi (Jack) Ura; brother, Ben (Alice) Ohta; sisters-in-law, Lena Nakamura and Yoshie Yoshiba; an aunt, cousins.

Hajime Miyamoto, 100, of Hilo died June 12 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Pepeekeo, he was a retired experimentalist for the former Hawaii Sugar Planters’ Association, U.S. Army World War II veteran of 442nd Regimental Combat Team Co. G and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin. Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by daughter, Susan (Alvin) Yoshitomi of Aiea, Oahu; brothers, Rodney (Marcelina) Miyamoto of Pahoa and Calvin (Dorothy) Miyamoto of Anaheim, Calif.; sister, Yasue Kawasaki of Hilo; sisters-in-law, Tamie Miyamoto of Hilo and Filomena Miyamoto of Hawaiian Paradise Park; nieces and nephews. Albert Akio Nakano, 86, of Fort Worth, Texas, formerly of Waiohinu, died Oct. 8, 2011, in Texas. Born in Keauhou, he was a retired Hawaii County safety coordinator for the County of Hawaii, owner of the former Nakano Orchids and U.S. Army veteran during World War II. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 10) at Naalehu Hongwanji Mission. Memorial service at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Survived by daughters, Kathleen (Mel) Avenue of Pearl City, Oahu, and Alberta (Joseph) Cox of Fort Worth; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
