A change in plans for many, but the Hilo Mustang 9s All-Stars remained in title contention at the state PONY League baseball tournament in Kapolei, Oahu, where the weather didn’t cooperate.

Hilo misfired Tuesday on its first chance at a championship in a loss to Kauai, and a second game later in the day was postponed, setting up a winner-take-all Wednesday.

On Friday in its opener, Hilo beat Kauai 6-5. The tournament was scheduled to finish Tuesday, and the delays forced parents to change their flights back to the Big Island. In fact, some of them had to alter flights twice.

If Hilo should win Wednesday, they probably won’t mind.
