A record high temperature of 87 degrees was set Monday in Hilo, according to the National Weather Service in Honolulu.
This broke the old record of 86 degrees for June 17 set in 1995.
According to the NWS, more typical easterly trade winds will continue through Thursday, but winds will decrease and shift to the southeast Friday into the weekend, leading to spotty showers and muggy conditions.
The NWS is predicting highs in Hilo to hit the mid 80s through Monday.
A small craft advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. today for the Alenuihaha Channel and leeward and southeast waters of the Big Island.
