Honoring Kamehameha the Great; Lei-draping ceremony slated Monday

The annual lei-draping ceremony, or Ka ‘Ahulei O Kamehameha, honoring Kamehameha I is set for 5-6:30 p.m. Monday, June 10, at the statue located at Wailoa State Park in Hilo.

The Royal Societies will present ho‘okupu to honor the ali‘i. The County Band, under the direction of band master Paul Arceo, will present selected music. The Kamehameha Alumni Chorus, Na Leo Mele O Kamehameha no Hilo, directed by Herb Mahelona, also will sing several mele.

The public is invited to attend.
