Born in Hilo, he was a retired tour bus driver for Polynesian Adventure Tours, self-employed mason, worked for Pacific Concrete, driver for TheBus in Honolulu, U.S. Navy Vietnam War veteran, Farrington High School 1960 graduate, member of the FHS Governors swim team and New Hope-Volcano. Born in Kona, she was a retired cafeteria worker at Honaunau Elementary School coffee, papaya and macadamia nut farmer, and member of Kona Hongwangi Buddhist Temple, its Buddhist Women’s Association, Toho no Hikari, Kona Kumamoto Kenjin Kai and Akitsu-Kumi.
