A high wind warning has been issued for Big Island summits throughout the weekend.
The National Weather Service is predicting winds at the summits of the island’s volcanoes to increase to 50 to 75 miles per hour today and possibly holding until Sunday night.
The Maunakea Access Road was closed Friday afternoon due to the high winds.
Drivers at high altitudes are advised to remain cautious, particularly if their vehicles have high profiles.
