Malcom “Mel” Kawaakoa Kam Sung Chung Sr., of Hilo died Dec. 1 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a truck driver for Hawaiian Linen and Edwin DeLuz Trucking. Zachary “Zack” Bradford Gibson, 52, of Honokaa died Nov. 4 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born at the former Subic Bay U.S. Naval Station, Olongapo, the Philippines, he was a Native Hawaiian farmer of medicinal plants for Pu‘u‘ala Farms and founder/owner of Kanaka Kava restaurant, a traditional awa bar in Kona. Celebration of life noon Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, at Honokohau Harbor, 74-380 Kealakehe Parkway in Kailua-Kona, and noon Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, at Pu‘u‘ala Farms and Ranch, 44-2224 Government Main Road in Honokaa. Ruth Loomis Kraft, 89, of Kailua-Kona died Nov. 24 at home. She was born in Cleveland. Private gathering Jan. 6, 2019, at her home. Wesley Anthony Saldua, 52, of Washington, formerly of Papaikou, died Nov. 29 at home. Born in Hilo, he was an engineer with Boeing Aerospace and musician. Visitation 5-6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Prayer service at 6 p.m. Graveside service 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. Survived by mother, Adeline Saldua of Papaikou; sisters, Sylvia Shauvin, Dolores Childs and Brenda Gordon of the mainland; brother, Randall Saldua of Papaikou; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Masamori “Masa” Sunahara, 93, of Papaikou died Sept. 7 at Life Care Center of Hilo. He was born in Ninole, and lived in Hakalau then Papaikou for many years. He was a heavy equipment operator training supervisor with the former Hilo Coast Processing Co. and member of Hilo Coast United Church of Christ, Papaikou Senior Softball Team and Papaikou Kumiai. Friends may call 2:30-4 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 20) at the Dodo Mortuary chapel. Memorial service at 4 p.m. Casual attire, no flowers.
