Waiakea, Hilo High and Konawaena began their BIIF girls basketball seasons Monday night with easy victories at home against Division II teams.

At the Warriors gym, Zaelynn Lui-Cabinatan scored 14 points and Jazelle Dorser added 11 as Waiakea beat Honokaa 67-25.

The Warriors raced to a 29-2 lead after the first quarter.

Serenity Delos Santos scored 10 for the Dragons, who were playing their first regular season game under new coach Keisha Kanekoa.

It was 42-12 at the half.

At the Vikings’ gym, Keani Midel hit two 3-pointers and led the way with 16 points as Hilo got balanced scoring to beat Hawaii Prep 55-15.

Hilo led 23-2 after the first quarter. Keirstyn Agonias scored 11 points and Jamila Collins-Ebanez had eight.

Kyana Burcelas scored seven for Ka Makani, who were playing their first game under new coach Lacey Hester.

In Kealakekua, the Wildcats beat Ka’u 66-12 behind a 20-point performance from Kailana Salazar-Harrell, who hit four 3-pointers. Caiyle Kaupu added 18 and Grace Lyn Hing made three 3s and finished with 11.

Heidi Vidal had five for the Trojans.
