Elpidio Cabarles Cuaresma, 83, of Pepeekeo died Sept. 26 at home. Born in Paoay, Ilocos Norte, the Philippines, he was a retired worker for the Hilo Coast Processing Co. and member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou. Visitation 5-6 p.m. Oct. 21 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 6 p.m. Visitation again from 9-10 a.m. Oct. 22 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park (Ilima Section). Casual attire. Flowers welcomed. Survived by wife, Iluminada Cuaresma of Pepeekeo; son, Edmund (Glorie) Sadang of Hawaii; brothers, Bernard Cuaresma of California and Rolf Cuaresma of Canada; sisters, Genarosa Guerzon and Virginia Cuaresma of the Philippines; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild; nieces, nephews and cousins. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

David Lynn Scrafford, 82, of Papaikou died Oct. 10 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama facility. Raised in Hillsboro, Ore., he was a U.S. Navy veteran, taught art at Oregon State University and helped form S&S Cabinets. Private internment at Hilo Veterans Cemetery. Donations can be sent to Hawaii Care Choices. Survived by brother, Donald Scrafford, a nephew and a hanai niece.
