The colorful and dynamic musical group, Leche de Tigre, will perform at 7 p.m. Nov. 2 at Kahilu Theatre in Waimea.
Leche de Tigre relies on adrenalized Latin percussive rhythms mixed with a healthy dosage of Spanish, Gypsy and rock-inspired vocal and guitar arrangements with a driving funk foundation of bass, drums and horn. Percussive grooves counter the melodic impact of acoustic guitar and the result is an eloquent and soulful vocal and musical formula that evolves spontaneously, complementing both of the multilingual lyricists.
Leche de Tigre was formed in 2009 in Kailua-Kona and is comprised of Big Island residents Dan Brauer on vocals, acoustic guitar and Cuban tres; Lee Motter on vocals; Michaeloha Elam on trumpet; Chris Wilson on drums; Robby Malovic on bass; and Ruben Ruiz on percussion. These musicians combine to make “a potent musical brew,” according to HPR-The Conversation.
With material from their first studio album, “Lactophilia,” and an abundant collection of original tunes, covers and traditional songs in their repertoire, Leche de Tigre is sure to put on a great show.
