Joseph R. Faisca, 91, of North Kohala died Sept. 4 at home. Born in Halawa, North Kohala, he was a retired mechanic for Kohala Nursery, West Hawaii Concrete and the former Kohala Sugar Co., member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and U.S. Army veteran. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi. Mass at 10 a.m. No flowers. Luncheon to follow. Survived by wife, Helen Faisca of North Kohala; daughters, Jolene (Tyler) Carlson of California and Mary Gail Faisca of North Kohala; son, Joey (Lori) Faisca of North Kohala; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Cronin Yoichi Higa, 82, of Hilo died Sept. 17 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. He was born in Pahala, he was a retired maintenance supervisor at Hilo International Airport, U.S. Army Korean War veteran and member of Papaikou Kupuna Softball Team and Komohana Gardens Association. Visitation 4-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Celebration of life at 5 p.m. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Ellen Maetani Higa of Hilo; son, Casey Zenichi (Christine) Higa of Hilo; daughter, Lynne Yaeko Higa of Hilo; brother, Ramsey (Amy) Higa of Los Angeles; sisters, Florence (Harry) Nakamoto of California and Laverne (Gary) Sato of Hilo; a granddaughter; nephews, nieces and cousins. Mary Ellen Wilson, 98, of Hilo died Sept. 23 in Hilo. Born in Flint, Mich., she was a homemaker. Private memorial services at a later date. Survived by daughters, Sherry Wilson Arndt of Hilo, Sally Wilson of Cheney, Wash., and Sue Ellen Wilson of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; brothers, Paul Seals of Olney, Ill., and Don Seals of Paris, Ill.; sister, Carol Bosecker of Harrisburg, Ill.; four grandchildren. Curtis Allen Yamada, 59, of Hilo died Aug. 27 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hilo, he was president of Yamada and Sons Inc. Construction and a U.S. Army veteran. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo. Celebration of life at 11 a.m. Flowers welcome.
