The No. 22 was retired, and so were any goal-scoring issues for one match.

UH-Hilo’s women’s soccer team matched its goal total from its first four contests combined Tuesday night in a 2-1 victory against Azusa Pacific at Paiea Stadium in Keaau.

Prior to the start, the Vulcans (2-1-2, 1-0-1 Pacific West Conference) retired the jersey of former standout Lindsey Poulsen, a two-time All-Pac West selection who passed away in June after a long battle with ovarian cancer.

In the 15th minute, a give-and-go between Jaimie Salas to Callye Lahmann, resulted in Salas scoring her first goal of the season.

Midway through the second half on corner kick, Lahmann drew another assist, popping a ball to a charging Lucy Maino, who headed it in for her first goal.

UH-Hilo beat the Cougars (1-5-1, 1-1-1) for the first time in six tries all-time.

Looking for her third consecutive shutout, Vuls goalkeeper Bailey Cahill didn’t face a shot on goal in the first half.

Azusa’s Haley Bostard scored in the 74th minute on a corner kick. Cahill finished with three saves.

UHH held a 12-6 advantage in shots, putting nine on frame.

The Vulcans welcome Chaminade for a 3 p.m. match Saturday.
