Rodney R. Botelho, 87, of Honokaa died Sept. 3 at North Hawaii Community Hospital in Waimea. Born in Kalopa, he was a retired athletic director at Honokaa High School, taught there and at Laupahoehoe High, U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Fresno State and University of Hawaii alum, played golf and baseball and was a Chicago Cubs fan. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. Mass (urn) at 10 a.m. Military honors to follow. Casual attire; flower lei welcome. Survived by wife, Jacqueline Botelho of Honokaa; daughter, Tracy Botelho of Honokaa; son, KC Botelho of Honokaa; brother, Donald (Grace) Botelho of Kailua, Oahu; sister-in-law, Jennifer Souza of Honokaa; three grandsons and three great-granddaughters; nieces and nephews. Lucio “Lucky” Cabus Jr., 74, of Mountain View, formerly of Lihue, Kauai, and Kalihi, Oahu, died Aug. 29 in Keaau. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired Roberts Hawaii school bus driver, previously employed by Von Hamm Young, Eagle Distributors, McKesson Wine and Spirits, Island Beverage Co., 7-Up Bottling Co. and Johnson Brothers, member of Court Mauna Kea A.O.F. Hilo #8854 and Alaska-Hawaii Moose Club #1206. Visitation 5-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 6 p.m. Aloha attire; no flowers, but lei welcome. Scattering of ashes Oct. 13 on Oahu. Survived by wife, Naomi L. Marciano “Rocky” “Fatso” Cadabona, 80, of Kurtistown died Sept. 2 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honohina, he was a retired food service manager for the state and U.S. Army veteran. Maureen “Nani” Haunani Giron, 62, of Kailua-Kona died Sept. 9 at home. Born in Honolulu, she was owner of Aunty Nani’s Cafe and a waitress at the former Sizzler restaurant, Maxxwell’s Landing, Laniakea Cafe, Pizza Hut and Honokohau Harbor House. Born in Hilo, he formerly worked at Goodyear Auto Service Center in Hilo and the state Department of Transportation and was a member of New Hope-Hilo Church.
