The County of Hawaii and several other agencies will hold two public information meetings next week regarding flood insurance.

The meetings — hosted by the county, the state Department of Land and Natural Resources, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Consumer Affairs’ Insurance Division — will inform homeowners and renters about the National Flood Insurance Program, a FEMA initiative that provides affordable flood insurance to properties that conform to floodplain management regulations.

Meetings will run from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sept. 25 and 27. The Sept. 25 meeting will take place at the Aupuni Center Conference Room in Hilo, while the later meeting will be held at the West Hawaii Civic Center in Kailua-Kona.
