Taro Fujimori, 96, of Kealakekua died July 26 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Hookena, he was a retired assistant manager for Hawaiian Airlines, service technician and volunteer at Puuhonua o Honaunau and Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park. Private services held. Survived by sons, Sanford Fujimori of Maui and Robert Fujimori of Kealakekua; daughters, Rae (Michael) Godden of Kealakekua and Ellen (Steve) Walton of Newport Beach, Calif.; sisters, Riki Kubo, Mutsu (Norman) Higa, Nao Fuchigami, Yae (Carl) Yamashita, Yoi (Herb) Endo and Amy Fujimori of Oahu; sister-in-law, Mildred Fujimori of Oahu; eight granchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Geraldine (Geri) Christensen Harrison, 94, of Laupahoehoe died Aug. 22 at home. Born in Central, Ariz., she was a former teacher and PTA president at Edison Elementary School in Salt Lake City, former member of Utah Symphony Guild, Daughters of Utah Pioneers and former president of Utah Optometric Association Women’s Auxiliary. Interment at a later date in Taylor, Ariz. Survived by children, Naomi Hatch of Taylor of Arizona, Dorothy Evelyn Harrison of Phoenix, John (Ann) Harrison of Rose, Okla. and V. Chris (Theresa) Harrison of Laupahoehoe; sisters, Betty Cook, Carol Shupe, Rose Shumway and Joy Jones; brothers, Gary Christensen and Jim Christensen; 19 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 19 great great grandchildren. Kathryn “Katie” “Kia” Mary Hubers, 61, of Keaau died Aug. 21 at home. Born in Appleton, Wis., she was a retired Internal Revenue Service auditor. Memorial services at a later date. Matsue Matsuoka Maeda, 97, of Kohala died Aug, 28 at Kohala Hospital. Born in Kohala, she was retired from Kohala Hospital and a member of Kohala Hongwanji Mission. Private services at a later date. Terry Eleuterio Panis, 73, of Hilo, formerly of Pepeekeo, died Aug. 27 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Pepeekeo, he was retired from Hawaii Electric Light Co., a former disc jockey known as “Teddy Bear,” U.S. Navy veteran and member of Honomu Good Shepherd Mission and Pepeekeo Community Association. Graveside urn committal service noon Monday (Sept. 17) at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. Janet Tsuruko Nakamura, 101, of Hilo died Aug. 26 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired flower packer for the former Flowers Inc. and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin. Private services held. No koden (monetary gifts). Survived by sons, Earl K. Nakamura and George (Jean) Nakamura of Honolulu, Wesley Nakamura of Hilo; sister, Mitsuko Inamine of Kawaihae and Yoshie (George) Oshiro of Kailua, Oahu; two grandchildren and a great-grandson; nieces and nephews. The Rev. Susumu “Sus” Yamane, 90, of Honolulu, formerly of Hilo, died July 9 in Honolulu. He was pastor emeritus of Church of the Holy Cross in Hilo, having served as its pastor from 1971 to his retirement in 1994. During his tenure, he helped establish ministries for the University of Hawaii at Hilo Hospice of Hilo (now Hawaii Care Choices) and Habitat for Humanity. He also served as interim pastor for the Hoolokahi congregation in Kona and served in Ogden, Utah, Koloa Union Church on Kauai and Ewa Community Church on Oahu. Service of remembrance 10 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 15) at Church of the Holy Cross, 440 W. Lanikaula St., Hilo. No koden. Memorial donations to Hawaii Care Choices, 1011 Waianuenue Ave., Hilo, HI 96720 or Habitat for Humanity Hawaii Island, 863 Iolani St., Hilo, HI 96720.
