One was enough for No. 2.

UC San Diego rode Christina Oddone’s goal just before the half Sunday to a 1-0 victory against UH-Hilo in a women’s soccer match at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex on Oahu.

The Vulcans head home 0-1-1 and get 11 day off before playing again on Oahu.

The second-ranked Tritons (4-0-1) already have victories against No. 7 Western Washington and the Hawaii of Division I.

UHH was in decent shape for much of the first half, but on the closing sequence a Tritons corner kick sailed across the field, leading to a cross from Emily Kileen that Oddone got her foot on to push into the corner of the net just past Bailey Cahill, who made seven saves.

UHH was outshot 13-0.

• Natasha Burns recorded a career-high 15 kills, Casey Castillo added a season-high 12 and Angel Gaskin had a Hawair career-high 10 as the Rainbow Wahine beat San Diego State 25-21, 25-17, 19-25, 25-17 for their second consecutive win at the Outrigger Volleyball Challenge.

On the bench, UH alums Robyn Ah Mow-Santos and the Aztec’s Deitre Collins-Parker went head-to-head for the first time.
