Police are investigating an assault they say occurred Sunday evening in the Keaukaha area of Hilo on Kalanianaole Avenue along the seawall near the entrance to Four Mile beach park.

At about 5:45 p.m, during a heated dispute, the victim was struck in the face by an unidentified man, police said. As a result, the victim suffered injuries requiring him to be medevaced to Oahu for treatment.

The suspect was in the company of two other unidentified men. He was seen leaving the area in a white Nissan Frontier pickup truck.

Police described the suspect as local, bald, about 5 foot 10 inches tall and 200 pounds. He was reportedly shirtless and wearing shorts.
