Police have identified the man killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash Sunday as 24-year-old Derick Tokjen of Ocean View.

Officers responding to a 7:09 a.m. call determined that Tokjen’s gray 2005 Honda sedan veered off the right side of Mamalahoa Highway (Highway 11) near the 82-mile marker in Ocean View and overturned down an embankment. Tokjen was transported to the Kona Community Hospital where he was later pronounced dead at 11:39 a.m.

Police believe inattention was a factor in this crash, but don’t yet know if alcohol and drugs were a factor.

An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

Potential witnesses are asked to contact the Kona Traffic Enforcement Unit at 326-4646 ext. 229.

This is the 21st traffic fatality this year compared to 24 at this time last year.
