A Blue Hawaiian Helicopters aircraft made an unplanned but safe landing Sunday afternoon at Shipman Beach in Keaau.

According to Hawaii Fire Department East Hawaii Battalion Chief Darwin Okinaka, the call came in at 1:22 p.m.

“When we got on scene, they reported no injuries. Everyone was safe, so we left,” Okinaka said. “One of the rear doors came off.”

Okinaka said he saw only the pilot and didn’t know if anyone else was aboard.
