KAILUA-KONA — An overturned cement mixer at the intersection of Queen Kaahumanu Highway and Mauna Lani Drive resulted in traffic delays Wednesday as crews worked to remove the rig.

The truck had yet to be removed as of Wednesday evening. The crash happened sometime after 8 a.m. when a silver SUV apparently attempted to make a left turn onto Mauna Lani Drive and collided with the Kona-bound cement mixer, said Hawaii Police Department Maj. Robert Wagner.

Minor injuries were reported, he said.

While the truck remained in the roadway, traffic was detoured around the crash so there was no road closure.
