The Art by Hand: Contemporary Craft Juried Exhibit, featuring clay, fiber, glass, metal, wood and mixed media pieces from throughout the state, will be on display from Sept. 7-27 at Wailoa Center in Hilo.

For those interested in submitting a piece, a help day will be offered Tuesday (Aug. 14) at the Wailoa Center, 200 Piopio St. Reservations are being taken now for assistance with the online entry process and taking photos of participants’ work. Call 933-0416 to reserve a space between 12:30 and 3 p.m.

The deadline for entering the juried show is 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17. The Hawai‘i Island Art Alliance will be picking up accepted art Aug. 31 in Kona (subject to space availability), or accepted pieces can be dropped off at the Wailoa Center from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 1. Artists will be able to pick up their pieces from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 28 after the close of the show.

The maximum number of entries allowed is five; cost is $17 per entry. Enter at CaFE (callforentry.org).

The juror for the show is ceramic artist Amber Aguirre. The exhibit is sponsored by HIAA.

A reception and awards presentation is slated for 5-7 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Wailoa Center, with a juror’s gallery walk/talk scheduled for 11 a.m. Sept. 8.
