Trent Toshio Fujii, 33, of Kapaau died July 13 at Kohala Hospital. Born in Hilo, he was a former landscaper. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 11) at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Kapaau. Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Erlinda Fernandez Navalta, 81, of Mililani, Oahu, formerly of Laupahoehoe, died July 24 at Wahiawa Nursing &Rehabilitation Center on Oahu. Born in Dagupan City, Philippines, she was a homemaker and seamstress, member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Laupahoehoe and Laupahoehoe Senior Citizens Group. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Friday (Aug. 10) at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. Shigeyasu Russell “Russ” Oda, 89, of Hilo died July 17 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired architect, founding partner of Oda-McCarty Architects, U.S. Army captain and Korean War veteran, member and president of Urasenke Hilo Association, member and past-president of the Rotary Club of Hilo, Navy League of the United States (Hilo Council), Chinese Civic Association of Hawaii, member and past-commodore of Hilo Yacht Club, member of Honpa Honganwji Hilo Betsuin, Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin Hoyukai and Kyodan, Japanese Chamber of Commerce &Industry of Hawaii, Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce, Hilo Jaycees, Hawaii County Planning Commission, Wailoa Center Advisory Committee, Japanese Community Association of Hawaii, East Hawaii Hiroshima Kenjin, emeritus member of American Institute of Architects, bestowed University of Hawaii at Hilo Alumni and Friends Association Distinguished Service Award in 2011 and Hilo High School Outstanding Contributor Award 2014, and inducted into Junior Achievement of Hawaii Business Hall of Fame in 2013. Gerald “Kaleo” Lee Kaleolani Wahinekapu, 45, of Kailua-Kona, died July 16 at Kona Community Hospital.
