A channelized a‘a lava flow west of Kapoho Crater continued to enter the ocean Saturday morning, according to Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.

The most southern edge of the flow was 1 kilometer or six-tenths of a mile from Isaac Hale Beach Park.

The flow destroyed Ahalanui Beach Park and Kua O Ka La Public Charter School on Wednesday evening.

A short-lived overflow of the fissure 8 channel near the vent spread east-southeast but did not advance beyond the flow field.
