Remegio G. Desamito, 71, of Keaau died June 18 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pangasinan, the Philippines, he was a retired bus driver for Clark County School District in Las Vegas, U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam War and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Visitation 5-6 p.m. Thursday (July 19) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 6 p.m. Visitation again 8:30-10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire; flowers welcome. Burial to follow at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Survived by wife, Editha de Leon Duyao Desamito of Keaau; sons, Reggie Desamito of Dutch Harbor, Alaska, Eric Desamito of Keaau and Marc Desamito of Hilo; brother, Ceasar (Erlinda) Desamito of Las Vegas; sister, Jayne Desamito of Molokai; sister-in-law, Nora Duyao of Keaau; brothers-in-law, John (Andrea) Duyao and Marcio Duyao of Keaau; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Michael G. Moniz Sr., 75, of Mountain View, formerly of Las Vegas, died June 9 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired ramp supervisor for the former Continental Airlines and member of the former Cats Softball Club. Visitation 5-6 p.m. Wednesday (July 18) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 6 p.m. Casual attire. Survived by daughters, Annamarie Moniz of Hilo and Arnette (Kimo) M. Soares of Las Vegas; son, Michael (Malia) Moniz Jr. of Mountain View; son-in-law, Brian Cook of Las Vegas; father, James Sloan of Keaau; brothers, Rennie (Diane) Moniz of San Bruno, Calif., Charles (Lisa) Sloan of Kurtistown and Jonathan Sloan of Keaau; sister, Michelle (Al) Meeks of Georgia; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Kimberleen Nethon, 32, of Keaau died June 30 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in the Federated States of Micronesia, she was a sales assistant at Hilo Walmart and a member of Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church. All-night vigil starting 2 p.m. Friday, July 20, at the family home, 16-1587 34th Ave., Orchidland Estates. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, at Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass at 11 a.m. Casual attire; flowers and lei welcome. Burial to follow at Pahoa Church Cemetery.
