Ten Fire Rescue units, including three rescue boats and a helicopter, rescued two spear fishermen who were unable to return ashore late Sunday afternoon off Hawaiian Paradise Park because of large surf.

According to a written Hawaii Fire Department statement, firefighters responded to the 5:44 p.m. alarm, with the first unit arriving 10 minutes later at Paradise Alakai Drive and Kalika Road.

The chopper dropped a pair of rescue swimmers into the ocean who extricated both divers using a Billy Pugh net.

No injuries were reported.
