KAILUA-KONA — A 50-year-old man was sentenced this week to up to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges of sexual abuse against three different juvenile victims.

On April 11, Rudolpho Gomoban Rios Jr. pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree sexual assault and one count of continuous sexual assault of a minor.

In exchange for the plea, the prosecution dismissed a first-degree sexual assault charge, a Class A felony.

On Tuesday, 3rd Circuit Judge Robert D.S. Kim sentenced Rios.

For the charges of third-degree sexual assault, he was given an indeterminate period of up to five years.

For the continuous sexual abuse of a minor, the judge sentenced Rios to a consecutive indeterminate period of 20 years.

The charges stem from incidents where Rios had sexual contact with three separate victims under the age of 14 at the time of the assault.

According to an indictment filed against Rios in August of last year, the 50-year-old knowingly subjected a minor, born in August 1999, to have sexual contact with him sometime between Aug. 4, 2005 and Aug. 4, 2006.

Rios had sexual contact with a minor, born in April 2000, from Nov. 7, 2006 through Nov. 30, 2012.

According to the indictment, the victim lived in the same home as Rios.

During that time period, Rios did intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly engage in three or more acts of sexual penetration or sexual contact with the minor.

The indictment again outlines a timeframe from Nov. 7, 2006, to Sept. 5, 2010, where Rios intentionally, knowingly or recklessly engaged in three or more acts of sexual penetration or sexual contact with a minor who resided in the same home.

The victim was born in September 1996.

Rios also was ordered to pay Crime Victims Compensation Fund Fee $610 and register as a sex offender.
