Ige signs Senate Bill 3058 into law

HOLLYN JOHNSON/Tribune-Herald Mayor Harry Kim and Big Island lawmakers react Friday as Gov. David Ige, seated, announces he has signed Senate Bill 3058 into law. The bill will create a 10-year pilot program that establishes a “Hilo community economic district." The bill is intended to revitalize Banyan Drive and the Kanoelehua Industrial Area by allowing long-term lease extensions for state land lessees who make improvements to their leased property. The signing took place at HPM Building Supply in Hilo.
