Gary Toshio Akamatsu, 74, of Kealakekua died June 3 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kealakekua, he was a retired manager for the transportation squadron at Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu, member of the 64 and Friends Golf Club, Daifukuji Soto Mission and U.S. Army veteran.
